Reflection

Teachers are integrating e-learning to support the inquiry learning process specifically planning for and using thinking skills and Key Competencies.

  • Describe what you have done within your class to work towards meeting the success indicator.

I have just introduced Goggle Doc’s into my classroom to support my writing program. The writing ability of the children has been identified as an area in need of improvement.

  • How does this activity/strategy empower your students as learners?

When it comes to anything ICT in my classroom, children are instantly engaged.  They feel more in control of their learning and most of them don’t like to physically write for longer than 15min.

  • How could you take this further?

Children are writing their speeches at home on Goggle docs, this allows me to read them and give them feedback before the writing block.  The only issue in my classroom is the lack of computers for each child.

  • What evidence did you use to decide if this learning activity was successful/effective (e.g. How do you know the learning went beyond just using ICT?).

It is still a work in progress, however most children were able to research and save information in their account to support their writing.  The mere fact that they are finding and reading information to support their writing is a huge step in developing their speeches and expositions as well as developing thinking skills.
