What is Universal Design for Learning?

Universal Design for Learning is about creating learning options that cater for everyone at the beginning.

It's about:

  • welcoming diversity and using it as a springboard to innovate,
  • proactively getting to know students and each other and then
  • using that knowledge to create learning opportunities and environments,
  • beginning our thinking and planning from the diversest needs rather than from the mythical middle.
  • avoiding retro fitting,
  • wising up to the invisible barriers that shut people out.
