Phillip W. Simpson writes both fiction and non-fiction books for children and teenagers. He has had over 50 books published, mostly for the education sector. He has written books on how to teach writing as well as other teaching resources.  Publishers include Macmillan, Penguin, Month9books, Pearson, Oxford University Press, Cengage, Raintree, Essential Resources, Lift Education and Iversen.

His first young adult novel, Rapture, was shortlisted for the Sir Julius Vogel Awards in 2012.

His latest young adult novel, Minotaur, will be out in 2015 with U.S publisher, Month9books.

As well as a writer, he works full-time as a primary school teacher. He has over ten years’ experience teaching years 1-6. His qualifications include a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and Professional Development, a Master of Arts Degree (Hons 2:1) in Archaeology, a Bachelor of Arts (Ancient History and Archaeology) and Post Graduate Diplomas in Teaching (Primary), Human Resource Management and Museum studies.

Phillip loves reading, playing golf, fishing and football. He and his wife, Rose, have one son (Jack) and two border terriers (Whiskey and Raffles).
